Superintendent Dr. Mark Marshall is becoming increasingly recognized across Central Unified schools.
After approximately two months in his role, we went to the library at Glacier Point Middle School to meet and talk about how he manages a school district.
Throughout my career, I've believed in putting students above all else," he stated. "When you prioritize students, every other aspect naturally follows.
Over the past eight years, Marshall has been at the helm of the Los Banos Unified School District, yet the native from Louisiana emphasizes that growing up in hardship gives him insight into how education can shape children's futures.
"Having access to quality public schooling was what set me apart, so I've always considered it my responsibility in every role I took on to ensure students received the highest standard of education," he stated.
Marshall takes over from Ketti Davis, who was in charge for three years.
They separated suddenly in March. She left the district unexpectedly in March. The district and she ended their relationship abruptly in March. In March, they went their separate ways without warning. Their connection with the district came to an abrupt end in March.
Marshall has become the initial African American individual to receive this role.
He mentions it's the third district where he has maintained that position.
"That's significant, but I want to ensure I'm not left behind," he remarked.
In his initial 60 days, he has been connecting with residents and employees.
Marshall states that he seeks knowledge and details to gain a clearer comprehension of Central Unified.
