Jake Schreier is providing news about the highly anticipated X-Men A revival is being developed at Marvel Studios.
In an exclusive conversation, the Thunderbolts* The director hinted at developing the next wave of mutant superheroes.
"I'm not able to comment on it, but we have begun working on X-Men, and that's clearly extremely exciting," he said. Empire .
The director mentioned that collaborating on Thunderbolts* was an educational process, stating, "The greatest challenge for me was understanding how much of the film should focus on action versus the more heartfelt, character-focused moments. Even though there were more filming days than I've experienced before, these get consumed rapidly by the action sequences. By the final stages, it seemed as if, 'Okay, now we have a better grasp of how to handle this.'"
Schreier previously hinted at the X-Men reboot in an interview with The Playlist , referring to the comic book characters as "naturally intriguing and multifaceted content."
It's a remarkable chance featuring highly engaging characters and significant inner turmoil," he continued. "These characters are struggling with their sense of self and their position in life—this is naturally intriguing and intricate subject matter.
After Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, the rights to the X-Men franchise were transferred to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Certain actors from the previous Fox movies may return to play their roles in the new projects. Avengers: Doomsday movie, set to debut on December 18, 2026.
Actors who have portrayed X-Men characters in the past include Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
