Almost all Windows users have encountered the well-known "Blue Screen of Death" during their time using computers. Soon, however, this iconic error message—which has been shown against a blue backdrop for over four decades—will instead appear on a black screen.

"Microsoft stated in an announcement on Wednesday that it has become simpler than ever before to handle unforeseen restarts and bounce back more quickly," said the company based in Redmond, Washington.
In an effort to improve this, Microsoft has stated they will be "streamlining" user experiences during unexpected system restarts that lead to interruptions. This involves revamping the well-known error screen.
Behind the pitch-black backdrop, Windows' updated "error screen" displays a more concise message. The scowling icon is gone and has been replaced with a progress indicator showing the completion percentage of the reboot sequence.
Microsoft states that this "streamlined" user interface for unforeseen restarts will be rolled out later this summer across all its Windows 11 (version 24H2) devices.
On Wednesday, Microsoft announced an addition of a "rapid system restoration" feature aimed at PCs that might fail to reboot properly. This will prove especially beneficial amid extensive service disruptions, according to the company. With this new tool, Microsoft can widely implement specific corrective actions and automatically apply fixes without needing intricate manual steps from IT staff.
Microsoft announced that this rapid machine recovery feature will become "generally available" in the coming summer for Windows 11, along with extra functionalities scheduled to roll out later in the year.
