Even before getting his initial damage report, Trump started employing the word "obliterated." He kept a close eye on which officials within his administration adopted this terminology, according to The New York Times.
According to the report, the leak not only undercut his version of events but also raised fresh questions about whether he had misled allies and the American public in the lead-up to the summit.
The report indicates that Trump expected to receive commendation from NATO leaders, such as Secretary General Mark Rutte, who covertly expressed approval of his "firm response" in a message that Trump enthusiastically posted on social media.
That was genuinely remarkable, and something nobody else had the courage to attempt," Rutte penned in a message to the president. "This action makes us all more secure.

Rather than rejoicing over a definitive military triumph, Trump had to address queries regarding the precision of his claims and the actual effect of the attacks. According to the Times report, this leak overshadowed what was supposed to be a celebratory moment for a diplomatic achievement.
When questioned about the leak by a reporter on Tuesday, Trump stated, "CNN is despicable."
The Times report claims that by the end of the day, Trump’s mood had notably shifted because of the leak.
The cheerful attitude disintegrated when the intelligence leaks began surfacing, with Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, denouncing the conclusions as 'entirely incorrect' and a 'blatant effort to discredit President Trump,' according to the report.
