Although the next Texas gubernatorial election is not scheduled until 2026, an East Texas dairy farmer is getting a head start. Democrat Bobby Cole has declared his intention to run for Texas Governor, aiming to challenge the current Republican incumbent, Greg Abbott.
On X, Cole uploaded a video regarding his campaign On Monday, June 23, he criticized Abbott for “destroying all we’ve built in Texas” and “flattering thugs and tycoons.” The video has attracted attention with more than 33,000 views as of Tuesday morning. In his posting, he stated, “I’m Bobby Cole, and I’m running to become the next governor of Texas. So who exactly am I? To put it in Governor Abbott’s terms: FAFO”—a reference to an earlier statement made by Abbot. Abbott instructed the protesters to "Fully Assume Their Positions." "(f*ck around and find out)" if they "go too far" during protests.
Greg Abbott allowed Texas to be consumed by fire, endangering families and the lives we've constructed," stated Cole, a former firefighter with more than two decades of experience. "As we put in considerable effort, he slashed funding for education, neglected the power grid, and meddled in our private affairs.
Cole mentioned he’s entering the race for governor with a focus on supporting those who have felt “marginalized and overlooked.” He stated he aims to counteract Trump's “extremist policies” as well as combat corporate greed exemplified by Elon Musk. Here’s what Cole proposes: invest in education, improve infrastructure, decriminalize cannabis use, safeguard Medicare and rural health services, and reduce tax burdens.
