Syracuse, N.Y. — Sharon Owens holds a substantial advantage over her competitors in the Democratic mayoral primary race in Syracuse as approximately 50% of votes have been tallied.
As of 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, with 3,866 votes counted, Owens held approximately 61% of the vote. Pat Hogan followed with 24%, and Chol Majok trailed at 15%.
The polls were shut down on Tuesday at 9 p.m.
Owens, Hogan, and Majok are competing for the Democratic nomination for the upcoming ballot in November. The victor will go against Republican candidate Tom Babilon as well as potentially two independent contenders.
Over 7,000 individuals cast their votes in the Democratic primary election in Syracuse.
