On Tuesday (June 24), Nat Prentice and Ned Rauch secured the two Democratic spots on the ballot for the Philipstown Town Board in November, leading to a triangular contest.
Rauch, who received support from the Philipstown Democratic Committee, will be featured on both the Democratic and Independent Philipstown Focus ballots. He narrowly secured the Democratic line over John Maasik by just 26 votes.
Ben Cheah, who was backed by another faction within the Democratic Committee, will likewise be featured on the November ballot under the Philipstown Focus line. Both Cheah and Rauch submitted separate nominating papers by an established deadline in May, ensuring their spots on the general election ballot irrespective of what happens during the primaries. No contenders have emerged from rival political groups.
The voters needed to be part of the 8,156 residents in Philipstown who were registered as Democrats with the Putnam County Board of Elections. The voter turnout reached 12 percent.

In 2021, Jason Angell and Megan Cotter were elected to the Town Board as Democrats but decided against seeking another term. John Van Tassel, who is unchallenged in his bid for a third two-year tenure as supervisor, will be listed on both the Democratic and Philipstown Focus party lines when voting takes place in November.

Jacqueline Annabi, who serves as the supervisor of Putnam Valley, successfully defended her position against a challenge from Stephanie Waters for the Republican ticket.

The Legislature, comprising nine members with eight Republicans and one Democrat (Nancy Montgomery, representing Philipstown and part of Putnam Valley), will have three vacant positions.
In District 5, encompassing the hamlet of Carmel and eastern Lake Carmel, Jake D'Angelo triumphed over the incumbent Greg Ellner for the Republican nomination. Brett Yarris will be listed under both the Democratic and For the People lines, whereas D'Angelo will appear on the Conservative line.

In District 6, encompassing Southeast, Tommy Regan secured the Republican nomination over Tom Brann, while Brann triumphed in the Conservative primary against John O'Connor. The victor of the general election will take over from Paul Jonke, who chose not to run for a third consecutive three-year term.
