NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Peter Kefalas emerged as the winner of the contest. The Republican nomination for New York City's comptroller position.
Kefalas competed against Danniel Maio in the Republican primary. In November, he will face the Democrat who won their nomination.
For the Democrats, Mark Levine initially led with the most first-choice votes, however, a winner has not been announced yet.
Kefalas' campaign centered around high taxation and governmental inefficiency, along with what he termed a " spiraling" housing crisis, as stated on his campaign site.
"The organizations designed to assist the public have transformed into secretive bureaucratic entities, whereas average New Yorkers face challenges," Kefalas stated.
