Bracy Davis secured 42.96% of the votes. She was up against Coretta Anthony-Smith, Alan Grayson, and Randolph Bracy.

Until her passing in February, Geraldine Thompson served as the representative for the district encompassing Winter Garden, Pine Hills, Metrowest, and Parramore.

"He was my mentor. He was the person who invested so much in me. Everything I know about crafting legislation and collaborating with colleagues comes from Representative Thompson. This achievement, although attributed to me, also reflects his guidance. I am deeply thankful for him," Bracy Davis stated.

Bracey Davis will go up against Republican Willie Montague in September. “In the final analysis, the voters have spoken, and they’ve been very clear. I’m reaching out for their continued backing come September; I aim to secure a win all the way through. I am really enthusiastic about this,” she stated.

The alternative contest was for Bracy Davis' position in State House District 40, an area encompassing College Park, Pine Hills, Rosemont, and Ocoee.

RaShon Young emerged victorious in the primary election over former State Representative Travaris McCurdy. Prior to his current position, Young served as the chief of staff for Bracy Davis.

Young stated, “It’s impossible for me to measure or describe my current feelings. We’ve put in an incredible amount of effort. The team dove right into action, dominating the ground game, and I’m profoundly thankful for all the support that has made this moment achievable.”

In the upcoming September election, Young will go against Republican Tuan Le. Regarding the coming election, Young stated, “I have faith in the voters. They demonstrated their support today and I am confident they’ll return me to Tallahassee as the youngest member of the Florida Legislature.”
