Elon Musk has issued a terrifying warning about his desperate efforts to sustain life on Mars.
The world's richest man has been making inroads in his vision to colonize Mars, even as he juggled his high profile work with the Department of Government Efficiency and his under-siege company, Tesla.
Speaking to Fox's Jesse Watters On Monday, Musk explained his reasons for investing substantial resources into his mission to Mars.
' Mars "Life insurance lasts for life as a whole," he disclosed.
'Ultimately, every form of life on Earth will be destroyed by the sun. As the Sun progressively expands, we will eventually require becoming a multi-planet society since Earth will be engulfed in flames.
Musk said his mission is far beyond simply reaching Mars once. Rather than that, his aim is to guarantee the 'continuation of civilization.'
We still have a considerable distance to cover since merely touching down on Mars and leaving symbols and imprints isn’t enough.
NASA Has frequently cautioned that ultimately the sun will exhaust its fuel. According to NASA, as it starts to decay, our star will swell into a massive red giant, possibly growing big enough to envelop Mercury, Venus, and perhaps even Earth.
Researchers approximate that this phenomenon might start happening in roughly five billion years.
However, Musk is keen on making sure Mars becomes 'adequately self-sustaining' during his lifespan, referring to it as 'a crucial turning point for our fate.'
Musk frequently employs the 'fork in the road' metaphor when outlining his broader strategies, which he also referenced during his acquisition of Twitter.
President Donald Trump employed the same expression when he introduced a voluntary severance package for federal government workers, and Musk suggested at the time that he had played a role in shaping this initiative.
On Monday, Musk stated that his objective for Mars is ultimately for it to become self-sustaining such that it can continue to thrive even if supply missions from our planet cease for whatever reason—be it due to the collapse of civilization ending abruptly or gradually.
'If the resupply ships are necessary for Mars to survive, then we have not created life insurance. We've not created life insurance for life collectively.
'The crucial aspect for our future lies in the moment when Mars achieves self-sustainability, as this is when life as we understand it will be permanently altered.'
Musk's ominous warning arrives merely days following his previous statements. won a vote to create his own Texas city to help in his colonization efforts.
The SpaceX boss will turn his company's headquarters at Boca Chica - at the southern tip of the Lone Star State - into a city named Starbase.
The residents voted 173 to 4 to approve the incorporation of Starbase as a city. Bloomberg reported.
Many of the voters residing there work for Musk at SpaceX. he relocated to Texas over California 's new gender identity laws earlier this year.
'Becoming a city will help us continue building the best community possible for the men and women building the future of humanity's place in space,' a spokesperson for Starbase said on X.
Starbase is the facility and launch site for the SpaceX rocket program that is under contract with the Department of Defense and NASA that hopes to send astronauts back to the moon and someday to Mars.
Musk initially vowed in 2011 to send a person into space. Mars Within a decade. He then asserted that he would dispatch a crewed mission by 2024.
