Wednesday evening saw a fusion of cuisine and politics taking place on Parade Street.
A political discussion took place at the Anna Purna Kitchen on Parade Street on Wednesday night.
This event aimed to provide new immigrants in the city an opportunity to converse with candidates running for office in the upcoming primary election.
On Wednesday evening's discussion, the featured Democratic candidates included Daria Devlin who is running for mayor, Jim Wertz aiming for a seat on the county council, and Perry Wood seeking the position of Erie County Executive.
The organizers mentioned that the groups included Bosnians, Afghans, and Iraqis, along with others, who had questions for the candidates.
"Need to ensure we speak with everyone, including those who are integral members of this community, having resided here for years, and even established businesses here. It’s important that Erie remains woven into the fabric of their daily existence," stated Preston Nouri, both the event moderator and organizer.
Nouri informed us that candidates from both parties had been invited; however, only Democrats attended.
