( The Hill — A UK judge has ruled that President Donald Trump must pay over $820,000 in legal costs to the firm representing ex-British spy Christopher Steele following his unsuccessful lawsuit regarding the dossier.
In 2022, Trump lodged a complaint against Orbis Business Intelligence, a company established by Steele, a previous MI6 operative who released a 35-page document containing allegations regarding Trump prior to the 2016 election.
Trump argued The firm breached UK data protection regulations, leading to personal and reputational harm due to the allegations.
In 2024, Judge Karen Steyn of London presided over the case in London. tossed out the case since "there aren't any strong motivations" for permitting the case to proceed to trial.

Steyn has instructed Trump to cover the expenses related to Orbis' legal fees, with the president stating these charges have been deemed "exorbitantly high."
Trump failed to pay the first installment, and a hearing was set to decide for him to pay the full bill.
Judge Jason Rowley stated that Trump is now required to pay over $820,000 plus interest which accumulates daily at a rate of 12 percent, according to the AP report.
