LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A visitor who was stabbed inside a Las Vegas casino has initiated legal action, alleging neglect due to insufficient safety measures.
In June 2023, according to records, Felipe Nicholson attacked George Beatty, who was a cook from California, inside the Four Queens Hotel and Casino located on Fremont Street.
Nicholson later pleaded guilty to a charge of battery with substantial bodily harm, records said. As part of the plea agreement, which included two criminal cases combined, Nicholson agreed to serve 14-48 months in prison.
Beatty was gambling in the casino when Nicholson started arguing with another person, Beatty’s lawsuit said.
The documents stated that during the upheaval, Felipe repeatedly collided with the chair where George was seated," it read. "When George got up and tried to shift some machinery, Felipe bumped into him once more. This prompted George to ask Felipe about his issue.
As stated in the lawsuit, the circumstances subsequently intensified.
According to the records, Felipe chased George across the gaming area of the Four Queens casino. After some duration, Felipe took out a knife and managed to get near enough to attempt an assault on George.
Beatty sustained "irreversible harm," which affected his arm among other areas, according to the documents.
The lawsuit accuses the casino of neglect, citing the allegation that Beatty failed to monitor any security measures.
By Tuesday, Nicholson had been in custody for nearly two years since starting his sentence.
The legal action seeks at least $15,000 in damages, typical for civil cases in Nevada.
Hotel representatives did not reply to requests for comments.
