Though Superman is definitely set to get thoroughly beaten at some point in James Gunn’s upcoming DC Studios feature , the movie’s latest trailer highlights the process of rebuilding the Man of Steel.
At this year's CinemaCon, Warner Bros. presented an extended preview from the upcoming movie. Superman , and the studio recently uploaded the clip to their website. Mostly, the video shows a severely injured Superman (played by David Corenswet) pleading with his dog, Krypto, to pull him home since he can neither walk nor fly.
Although intended as humor, it's somewhat grim to watch Superman's limp body, suggesting many of his bones might be fractured. However, the sequence takes an even stranger turn — delightfully so — when Krypto pulls Superman towards a remarkably creative rendition of the Fortress of Solitude. Here, a group of medically equipped robotic helpers prepares to administer emergency care. The trailer includes striking scenes showing these robots focusing sunlight to revive him. Additionally, we get extended glimpses of Lois Lane portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan, Lex Luthor played by Nicholas Hoult, Hawkgirl enacted by Isabela Merced, Mister Terrific depicted by Edi Gathegi, Metamorpho brought to life by Anthony Carrigan, and Guy Gardner acted out by Nathan Fillion.
Gunn clearly hopes that viewers will embrace a more outrageous and fanciful universe of superheroes, and this approach could prove successful with audiences. Superman opens in theaters on July 11th.
