SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- On Wednesday, SK hynix Inc. announced that their 96-gigabyte DDR5 memory chips successfully completed customer verification, indicating an important milestone towards being ready for manufacturing.

The latest offering named CMM-DDR5 represents a dynamic random access memory (DRAM) technology designed specifically for data center servers.

Once incorporated into server systems, it enables processing of data at rates of up to 36 gigabytes per second. According to SK Hynix, these new chipsets show a 50 percent boost in storage capacity over previous DDR5 modules along with a 30 percent enhancement in bandwidth efficiency.

This is built using Compute Express Link (CXL) 2.0 technology, an advanced interface designed to effectively connect CPUs, GPUs, memory, and other elements within high-performance computing systems for supporting extensive, lightning-quick computations.

SK Hynix mentioned that they are also carrying out the verification process for a 128GB item with an additional client.

The firm aims to finalize the current 128GB verification at the earliest to develop a CXL product lineup for prompt customer assistance.
