LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The historic estate formerly belonging to the famous magician couple Siegfried & Roy has been formally recognized as part of Las Vegas’s legacy.
The Clark County Commission has granted historical recognition along with usage permissions for Siegfried and Roy’s mansion, which is commonly referred to as the 'Jungle Palace' in the area.
Constructed in 1954, this house sits on Vegas Drive close to North Decatur Boulevard opposite the Las Vegas Golf Club. In 2023, the property changed hands for $3 million when it was purchased by George and Brett Carden of Carden International Circus.
The county mentioned that the Cardens intend to develop an entertainment complex and museum where visitors can enjoy this famous site.
In 2023, the property was listed for sale. it was listed As a "mythical estate" situated on a .42-acre plot.
For many years, Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn were the main attractions in Las Vegas with their renowned magic act called "Siegfried & Roy." However, an incident involving a tiger named Mantecore attacked Horn onstage during a performance at The Mirage on October 3, 2003; this led to severe spinal injuries which halted Horn's acting journey. Later, they created a television series titled "Father of the Pride" before retiring together in 2010. Sadly, Horn passed away due to complications from COVID-19 on May 8, 2020. Unfortunately, just over ten months later, Fischbacher lost his battle against pancreatic cancer and died on January 13, 2021.
