The government of Guernsey is seeking to appoint five new members to join the island's medical ethics committee.
The Health and Social Care (HSC) organization mentioned they were seeking to add two lay members, along with one GP and two healthcare professionals, to the Guernsey Ethics Committee.
The panel offers ethical guidance on research proposals prior to their implementation.
Dr. Tracy McLean, who serves as the committee chairwoman, stated that they have "an essential part to play in guaranteeing all research studies involving the local population are both secure and thorough."
'Passionate about research'
She stated, "I've been part of the Ethics Committee for numerous years and continue to find it to be the most engaging and uplifting gathering I participate in."
HSC stated that non-medically trained committee members ought to have a strong enthusiasm for research and clinical ethics.
Doctor McClean mentioned that members will undergo training and gain “the chance to enhance their understanding of research and clinical ethics” as well as “play a role in advancing top-notch research endeavors in Guernsey.”
The panel, which additionally offers comments on organizational policies, convenes every second month for a duration of two hours.
