Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asserted on Friday that President Donald Trump "endures" and even "celebrates" antisemitism.
Schumer joined MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on Friday on The Last Word And placed some blame on Trump when talking about a Republican senator calling him "Führer Schumer."
The leader of the Democrats formerly pointed out Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) reported “vicious, nasty, and anti-Semitic.”
As stated in a report by The Columbus Dispatch Moreno referred to Democrats as "mindless sheep following the commands of their leader, Senator Schumer."
On Friday, Schumer accused Trump of tolerating antisemitism, citing the Moreno report and more, including the claim — which has consistently been refuted by fact-checkers — Trump described the white supremacists present at a controversial Charlottesville rally in 2017 as "very fine people."
Schumer said:
Sure, look—while some argue Donald Trump isn't inherently anti-Semitic, he definitely allows for and even promotes anti-Semitism through various channels. For instance, calling someone Palestinian behind their back, particularly mine, should remain confidential. Additionally, during events such as those in Charlottesville, where he stated that 'both sides' contained reasonable individuals. Inviting figures like Nick Fuentes, who espouses extreme views, to dine with him at Mar-a-Lago only exacerbates concerns. The idea of the "great replacement," a far-right conspiracy suggesting Jewish communities aim to supplant whites via immigration—that concept has gained traction under his watch. It’s important to remember: every previous president, regardless of party affiliation—from Reagan to Obama—took steps to suppress acts of prejudice whenever they arose. In contrast, Trump seems to celebrate these instances or simply let them persist without intervention. This behavior underscores why he arguably shouldn’t hold office.
