Russia has breached the energy truce with Ukraine yet again. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s nightly address, a drone attack was launched against the Kherson Thermal Power Plant by Russian troops.
"Earlier today in Kherson, another precision attack occurred at the Kherson Thermal Power Plant, this time carried out by a Russian FPV drone," according to President Zelenskyy.
He feels that these strikes can't be coincidental since the Russians understand that this is an energy site, and such facilities should be safeguarded against all assaults, which Russia had assured the American side.
"Every promise made by Russians culminates in missiles, drones, bombs, or artillery. To them, diplomacy holds no value. This is precisely why we require substantial pressure—enough to make Russia recognize the repercussions of each deceit, every attack, and each day they claim lives and perpetuate conflict," the President clarified.
Energy ceasefire
Mediated by the United States, Ukraine and Russia reached an agreement to halt assaults on energy facilities and port infrastructures. This truce went into effect on March 25th.
Nonetheless, even with these accords, Russian troops promptly breached them. Energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kherson regions has already faced attacks.
On April 1, the Russian military struck an energy facility in Kherson, resulting in approximately 45,000 inhabitants being left without electricity.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces released a statement addressing the observance of the energy truce conditions by the Defense Forces.
Previously, Zelenskyy mentioned that Ukraine is supplying the U.S. with comprehensive information regarding Russia's breaches of the ceasefire agreement.
