Waterbury — The Sunday Republican newspaper was awarded first place for overall excellence at the 2024 New England Newspaper Association’s awards ceremony held over the weekend in Portland, Maine.
"The newspaper lacks nothing, and everything is presented in an incredible package, even breathtaking. The writing, design, and photography stand out as unmatched," the judges commented.
Tracey O'Shaughnessy secured first place in the arts and entertainment reporting category and third place for a local personality profile. Mike Chaiken claimed third place for the Weekend arts and entertainment section, while Jim Shannon received third place for his sports action photography.
