A Representative from the House, Dachung Bagos, has criticized the murder of 12 individuals in Bokkos Local Government Area within Plateau State. He labeled these killings by alleged herdsmen as "meaningless" and emphasized that such events create profound wounds within the impacted communities.
The assault took place on Wednesday and affected five settlements, Ruwi village reporting the most victims. Multiple individuals were also noted as wounded.
Bagos, representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, called upon the Federal Government to step up measures aimed at protecting lives and properties within the state. He emphasized that the increasing occurrence of these incidents underscores the necessity for immediate security policy overhauls.
In a release made by his advisor for media and publicity, Dafwam Yaks, Bagos conveyed profound grief regarding the loss of life and urged for prompt legal measures to tackle the ongoing instability in the area.
He emphasized again his request to the National Assembly to quickly pass legislation aimed at forming state police, underlining that distributing security responsibilities would improve local law enforcement and enable communities to more effectively safeguard themselves.
The statement indicated that his thoughts were with the families impacted by this meaningless tragedy, which has caused enduring wounds within the community and far beyond.
Bagos additionally praised Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for his visit to the impacted communities. During this visit, he showed empathy by consoling bereaved families and restated his dedication to resolving the security issues within the state.
He additionally urged the communities in the area to come together and back one another during these challenging times, underlining the significance of unity and their constitutional duty for mutual protection.
