The incident with a barricaded individual at 78 Main Street in Milton concluded just before midnight on Wednesday. Earlier that day, law enforcement reported that a police officer from the Milton PD had been injured while attending to a report of a building fire.
The Vermont State Police stated that the public does not face any current threats.

The Vermont State Police investigation regarding this matter remains active and continues unabated. Currently, no individuals have been taken into custody. The Vermont State Police stated that they will release the identities of those involved after informing their families.
The Vermont State Police has reported that a police officer from Milton suffered gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment for injuries that are not life-threatening after responding to a call about a building fire on Main Street in Milton.
The State Police indicated that the incident was confined to the vicinity of 78 Main Street.
Officials stated that they received a call regarding a blaze at a residence on Main Street shortly after 6:59 p.m., and upon their arrival, firefighters and law enforcement personnel encountered gunshots.
The wounded officer was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center via an ambulance. The state police haven't disclosed his identity as of now.
Several departments from Chittenden and Franklin counties came to the location to help out.
According to law enforcement, Main Street was shut down from Route 7 to where it meets East Road/North Road.
In an earlier posting this evening, the Town of Milton updated the status of the incident on their Facebook page, stating that the issue has been brought under control. They had previously advised local residents to stay indoors and avoid the section of Main Street located between Railroad and Keinle streets.
The Vermont State Police is handling and probing this event. Their intervention includes personnel from the Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Field Force Division, along with specialized units such as the Tactical Services Unit, Bomb Squad, and Crisis Negotiation Unit.
NBC5 has a reporter present at the location where numerous emergency units, such as police cars, fire engines, and ambulances, can be seen lining Main Street with their lights activated.
