Beginning shortly, pupils from kindergarten through 8th grade within the Peru Central School District will have access restricted to using their school devices solely for educational activities as part of a new program designed to improve classroom instruction.
The district is implementing a "Whitelist-Only" internet access policy, which will limit students to accessing only pre-approved educational sites.
The upcoming policy, scheduled to commence on April 25, aims to assist students in concentrating on their studies by eliminating possible interruptions.
As stated by Nicholas Damiani, who leads the district's technology department, this change is designed to simplify student focus on essential educational materials required for their success.
The aim is to direct their attention toward educational material, reducing certain distractions, ensuring they grasp the necessary lessons when using these devices," explained Damiani. "A Chromebook serves as an instrument that facilitates accessing education and helps achieve the learning objectives set by educators.
