DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Back in October, the world’s wealthiest man announced he would give $1 million per day to Pennsylvania voters who sign his petition leading up to Election Day.

This stance supported free speech and the right to carry weapons, which sparked anger amongst Democrats, fearing that Elon Musk might be attempting to purchase the electoral process.

Currently, there’s a proposal in the state legislature that aims to prohibit individuals from providing funds to others for their participation in elections.

I don't look at this from a political party perspective," stated State Representative Nathan Davidson (D-Dauphin/Cumberland). "Instead, I consider this issue from the angle of preventing financial influence in politics and elections. In my opinion, it's not suitable for anybody to provide monetary gifts directly to individual voters.

Not long ago, Musk invested at least $21 million to influence voters with the aim of making Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court more conservative. However, such efforts do not always succeed. In this instance, the victory went to the liberal candidate.
