Bastrop, La. (KNOE) — Residents of Morehouse Parish now avoid lengthy trips for crucial neurological exams. Morehouse General Hospital has reintroduced EEG services, marking significant progress in enhancing accessibility to vital medical care within the area.
For many years, people looking for electroencephalograms (EEGs) had to go all the way to Monroe or further, usually dealing with lengthy delays. However, now that this diagnostic service has been brought back, patients can get prompt tests near where they live.
Valonda Moore, who leads the Respiratory Care department at Morehouse General Hospital, emphasized the significance of having EEG services accessible in the local area.
“Many individuals are on waiting lists to undergo EEG tests, and this will help them receive treatment for their brain disorders much sooner,” Moore stated.
Misty O'Neal from the hospital’s Respiratory Therapy Department highlighted that Morehouse General is presently the sole rural medical facility in the area offering EEG tests.
"There’s no need to travel elsewhere, where getting back can often be difficult," O'Neal clarified.
