Conservative Scott Jennings Rarely does he part ways with President Donald Trump on CNN, but even he admitted late Thursday that he has "mixed feelings" regarding the MAGA leader's economic strategy, which caused the global economy to nosedive.
The markets plummeted on Thursday , significant drops were observed across key indices of the U.S. stock market. The NASDAQ Composite plummeted almost 6%, erasing more than 1,050 points. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled approximately 4%, sliding by around 1,680 points. Additionally, the S&P 500 decreased by slightly less than 5%, dropping about 274 points.
As Trump marked his so-called "Liberation Day," a spiral occurred when he implemented a base rate of 10 percent tariff on goods coming from every country, imposing even higher duties—up to potentially 50 percent—on those considered uncooperative.

CNN host Abby Philip strongly criticized the Trump administration, arguing that their approach for determining the tariffs did not make mathematical sense.
" It's also not economics "It’s practically impossible to manage the finances of the biggest economy globally like this," Phillip stated, shifting his focus towards Jennings, who was known for consistently defending Trump on the channel.
However, this time, Trump discovered that he had no such protection.
"I won’t delve into the mathematical equations they developed since I wasn’t present and am unsure of their methods or reasoning behind them," he stated.
Jennings subsequently admitted that he was unsure how to react to Trump's policy.
To be honest, I'm ambivalent about this," stated Jennings. "My training didn’t include believing in tariffs. For someone like me, raised as a typical Republican, we’ve always followed Ronald Reagan’s thinking. What he’s accomplishing here is essentially rewriting the economic theory blueprint within the GOP.
Jennings mentioned that some Republicans are dismissing the theory, while others are choosing to reject it altogether. reluctantly along with it , and others are 'wholeheartedly welcoming it.'
“I’m aware of individuals within the business sector who hold differing views on this issue, honestly, both in my hometown of Kentucky and beyond. Personally, I find myself swayed by President Trump’s perspective concerning the working class here in our nation as well as the principle of fairness. Therefore, let me state clearly: should it prove successful, this would stand out as one of the boldest and most courageous moves made by a U.S. president in at least ten years,” Jennings remarked.
If it fails, though, he added, "all the political repercussions will rest on the shoulders of just one individual."
