Now, apparently, Gibson has been declared fit to possess firearms again even though he was part of a domestic disagreement. This situation arose after the Mad Max star’s chaotic two-year romance with his former girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.
After their separation in 2010, Grigorieva secured a restraining order against Gibson, accusing him of physical abuse. The Russian pianist stated that Gibson hit her and brandished a firearm during a dispute at his residence in California. Subsequently, Gibson admitted guilt to the lesser offense of battery in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
Although Gibson managed to avoid incarceration following the incident, he lost his firearm privileges. However, more than ten years later, his legal team has pushed for the reinstatement of these rights. Earlier this year, Gibson’s lawyer submitted a petition to ex-pardon attorney Elizabeth G. Oyer, requesting that the actor be evaluated for inclusion on a "recommendation" list.

Following her contentious choice to reject the motion to reinstate Gibson's privileges, Oyer lost her job. During an interview with The Washington Post She stated, “I’m coming forward solely because I believe it’s crucial to illuminate what’s happening within the Department of Justice. It’s extremely challenging for those currently employed there to voice their concerns, as they worry about potential backlash from the present administration.”
