LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - A man has been admitted to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation following his harassment of individuals at Hermosa and Redondo Beach through unsettling social media clips.
What we knowFOX 11 has obscured the man's face as he is currently hospitalized and has not yet faced official charges for any offenses. Nevertheless, over the past few days, he has posted videos of himself intimidating women, disturbing business operations, and provoking individuals on his public Instagram account.
The individual describes themselves in their Instagram bio as "a comedic artist with a dark twist."
What they're sayingEverybody here has had enough of this," stated Brian Smith, a local inhabitant. "If you wish to amuse yourself on Instagram, go ahead. However, making lewd remarks towards women? That’s just uncool, man. Such behavior isn’t welcome in our neighborhood.
Smith stated that he spotted the Instagram user on Wednesday at the Hermosa Pier conversing with multiple children.
"Several children were part of this group he was interacting with, including some 14- or 15-year-olds riding electric bicycles," stated Smith.
Smith says the man was live on Instagram harassing kids when someone grabbed his phone. Then, the Instagram Live abruptly ended.
“Maybe because his phone ended up in the sea over there,” Smith stated. “I didn’t mention anyone throwing it; I just said that’s likely where it is. If he hopes to locate it, he should consider reaching out to Aquaman.”
Various law enforcement organizations throughout the South Bay have previously issued citations to the individual active on Instagram. As stated by Hermosa Beach Police Chief Paul LeBaron, individuals who may be victims of crimes connected to this person are encouraged to step forward.
“If you’ve been affected, please inform us,” stated Chief LeBaron. “We’ll utilize all our resources under legal boundaries to assist.”
The Redondo Beach Police Department apprehended an Instagram user and had them admitted to a medical facility for a psychiatric evaluation on Thursday morning. As law enforcement examines the individual’s Instagram recordings for potential legal actions, they have identified thus far what appear to be minor infractions at most.
“It’s repulsive what he’s up to,” stated Chief LeBaron. “This isn’t acceptable to us. However, we must adhere to the law. We can’t simply expel someone just because their actions are disturbing, yet legal.”
A lot of individuals are glad that the Instagram user is receiving assistance; however, they also acknowledge that he might leave the hospital in just about two days, potentially producing even more disturbing content.
“This isn’t just someone joking around for laughs,” stated Smith. “It’s about a man making inappropriate sexual comments and uttering awful remarks to women. I won’t tolerate this behavior in my community. My apologies.”
