LAS VEGAS ( KLAS — Sphere, the renowned immersive entertainment venue in Las Vegas, plans to launch two new "Sphere Experiences" later this year, with one being inspired by a cherished classic film.

Sphere Entertainment Co. announced on Friday that The Wizard of Oz at Sphere The upcoming movie aims to grace the expansive screens at Sphere. This project involves a partnership between Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus, aiming to upgrade the classic 1939 film by leveraging Sphere’s distinctive features.
"The creative team for 'The Wizard of Oz at Sphere' comprises Academy Award and Emmy-nominated producer Jane Rosenthal ('The Irishman'); Academy Award-winning visual effects specialist Ben Grossmann ('Hugo'); Academy Award-winning editor Jennifer Lame ('Oppenheimer'); and Creative Director Zack Winokur (of Little Island public park)," stated representatives from Sphere Entertainment Co.
The "totally immersive" "Wizard of Oz" experience will launch on August 28.
Another initiative titled "On The Brink" showcases renowned rock climber Alex Honnold along with free diver Alenka Artnik, freestyle skier Markus Eder, BASE jumper Katie Hansen Lajeunesse, and surfer Kai Lenny as they guide viewers into the perilous realm of extreme athletics.
The new experience utilizes Sphere Entertainment Co.'s Big Sky camera technology As emphasized in June by 8 News Now in Las Vegas, they aim to create visuals tailored specifically for Sphere’s distinctive stage. Production for "From the Edge" is currently underway across various global locations including Jordan, Dubai, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Austin, Maui, and Las Vegas.
"From The Edge" is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
