On Wednesday, an LAPD chase concluded with gunshots in Willowbrook, resulting in the suspect being taken to the hospital.
The pursuit started around 2:10 p.m., when LAPD officers commenced tailing a vehicle connected to an outstanding felony warrant near 113th Street in Compton, as stated in a tweet by the department on X.
The officers were chasing after the suspect as he sped onto the 105 Freeway going eastbound. According to another update, once they reached him, he performed a U-turn, halted his car towards the approaching officers, got out of the vehicle, and escaped on foot heading westbound.
While he was fleeing, authorities assert that he reached inside his backpack, leading the officers to shoot at him.
Right then, an incident involving police gunfire took place," stated the authorities. "The individual was hit by bullets and taken to a nearby medical facility.
The status of the man's condition remains undisclosed. Authorities have not yet disclosed the details of the felony warrant involved.
According to law enforcement, no weapons were discovered either at the location or within the contents of the individual's backpack.
No additional injuries were noted.
