Kate Hollowell Takes the Helm for 'Something Murdered,' New Thriller from Amblin Entertainment

EXCLUSIVE: Sundance Award-winning multifaceted creator Kate Hollowell is set to helm the project as director. Something Murdered For Amblin Entertainment. The initiative stems from an initial concept crafted by Liz Benham that was acquired by Amblin Entertainment previously.

Hollowell will be adapted into a feature film directed by her. Amblin is producing alongside Chad Villella, with Benham, Tyler Gillett, and Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin serving as executive producers. Specific plot information has not been disclosed yet.

Hollowell’s short film Wave Hey Once You're Gone The short film, which she directed, penned, and acted in, received the Sundance Short Film Jury Award, earned a nomination for the SXSW Grand Jury Prize, and claimed the Best Director award at HollyShorts. Additionally, she excels as a prominent commercial and music video director, earning multiple nominations such as the Cannes Lion Young Director Award. In areas beyond filmmaking, she has significantly impacted both music and theater, particularly through her work on her musical endeavor. Number One Popstar and her solo comedic performance A Hero’s Journey .

Benham began her career by authoring and guiding numerous sketches and short videos, which garnered more than 15 million views collectively. Her creations have caught the attention of various publications such as HuffPost Comedy, Glamour, WhoHaHa, HelloGiggles, and BroBible, and they've also surfaced on television programs including Right This_minute (on ABC), Laughs (broadcasted on Fox), and The Daily Buzz (available on Hulu). After completing her training at UCB's Improv program, she extended her creative efforts towards feature-length works and television scripts.
