Josh Weil by 14 points , which was noticeably lacking compared to 21-point margin by which former Mike Waltz (R-FL) secured the district in November. CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Presented were his commentsFine regarding these remarksDeSantis made about him on Wednesday:
I believe Randy Fine is your man; he emerged victorious but tends to be quite soft... People often find him unappealing. The voter turnout on Election Day was impressive for such a specific election within the Republican base here. I credit this largely to President Trump’s involvement.
I believe these are voters who weren't fond of Randy Fine, yet decided they should make a sacrifice "for the team." The president needed an additional vote, and thus they chose to support him. Therefore, I wouldn't interpret his poor performance as some kind of rejection of MAGA or Trump. Instead, I see it as a specific situation related solely to this individual candidate.
The clip concluded, and Collins shifted his attention to Fine.
"I'm going to take a shot and say you two aren't particularly close," she said flatly.
No," he responded. "Ron DeSantis is repulsed. me I believe this much is evident. However, Ron still hasn’t gotten over me supporting President Trump back in 2023. At that time, I was the initial lawmaker to transition from another candidate to backing President Trump. Additionally, I remain the sole Jewish Republican within the Florida legislature, which made quite an impact. Nonetheless, I have no interest in engaging in minor political vendettas. Instead, my priority lies in boosting progress for my constituency. While he dwells on old issues, I am focused on moving forward."
Fine ultimately stated that the governor's comments were "disheartening."
