AUSTIN, TX (NEWS RELEASE) — According to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the average cost of regular unleaded fuel across Texas stands at $2.87 per gallon.
The cost has risen by 11 cents since last week and dropped by 28 cents per gallon from what it was on this date last year. Among various large cities in Texas, motorists in El Paso face the highest average price of $3.11 per gallon, whereas those in the McAllen region pay the lowest at $2.66 per gallon.
The nationwide average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline stands at $3.26. This figure represents an increase of 11 cents from the same day last week and a decrease of 29 cents when contrasted with the corresponding date last year.
The cost of gas saw a significant rise over the past week. Multiple elements are contributing to this surge, such as scheduled refinery upkeep and the transition to producing summer-grade fuel. Although current prices have climbed from last week’s levels, they still stand lower than what was observed at this point last year.
