WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — On Thursday, the Inner Banks STEM Center commenced construction on their new 13,000-square-foot facility focused on science and technology.
This initiative aims to introduce middle and high school students to contemporary skills and various pathways for further technical education.
"Today is significant as this represents the kind of educational framework required for northern and northeastern North Carolina. It will help elevate our children's abilities to match the technological advancements we plan to develop and implement right here in Washington, Beaufort County, and the Outer Banks," stated Representative Keith Kidwell.
They aim to have the construction completed within the next 8 to 9 months. This initiative forms part of an overarching 10-year strategy.
