PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — An Illinois woman is speaking out for the first time on Wednesday about being a child holocaust survivor.
Renee Adelman Grobart, spoke at this year’s annual Yom Hashoah event at the Peoria Riverfront Museum . Yom Hashoah is Hebrew for Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Holocaust survivor from childhood set to address Peoria’s Yom HaShoah observance Wednesday
The listeners were presented with Grobrig’s account of escaping Warsaw, Poland, amid the Nazi invasion. Following his narrative, attendees got an opportunity to pose their questions.
Winners for the white rose society contest were also announced. The Jewish Federation of Peoria sponsored the event.
