The Greene County Government has received $113,250 from the Golden LEAF Foundation’s SITE Program to aid in preliminary assessments for a potential new industrial site onBurnette Road close to Farmville, as stated in an official announcement.
Chairman Bennie Heath from the Greene County Board of Commissioners made these comments regarding the funding:
I would like to convey, on behalf of the Board of Commissioners and all employees, our heartfelt gratitude to the Golden LEAF Foundation for their ongoing support. Their contribution allows us to proceed with an initiative that not only upholds our rich farming traditions but also fortifies the groundwork necessary for sustained economic prosperity in the future.
As stated in an official statement, should the location prove viable, Greene County plans to initiate the rezoning procedure to prepare the area for potential industrial development. Notices will be posted on-site to ensure transparency within the neighborhood, with chances provided for locals to engage in the proceedings. The parcel will remain dedicated to agricultural use until a compatible business partner is found and confirmed.
