Ten years following their appearance on Grand Designs An 'incredibly stunning' house has been sold for a staggering £4,000,000.
In 2015, host Kevin McCloud traveled to the village of Colgate near Horsham in West Sussex to meet Clinton Dall, who was 'ready to invest as much as needed' to construct one of the biggest houses ever showcased on the long-running Channel 4 programme .
Upon arriving at the location for the first time, Kevin was stunned and declared, "Wow, what Pandora's Box have you unleashed?"
The one-story architecture of glass and steel draws inspiration from Mies Van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion.
Kevin voiced his worries about the 60-metre-long project named Pavello, situated on a five-acre forested area, potentially appearing more akin to a small airport or an art gallery instead of a residence. Additionally, he warned that the property owner might encounter 'severe financial difficulties'.
At the same time, the builder was equally worried about the sheer enormity of the house. With an area of 5,533 square feet, it was seven times larger than the typical British home.
However, the sky was the limit for the ambitious project, which lacked a defined budget yet faced a strict 12-month timeline.
When Clinton, who owned a cleaning company, spoke about it back then, he said: 'I don’t want to settle for less; I aim for perfection.'
Similar to every build showcased on the program, he encountered several difficulties such as problems with supplies and escalating expenses.
Nevertheless, his vision ultimately became reality, as Clinton noted that 'it wasn’t clear to everyone until it was done'.
Ultimately, he disclosed that constructing the house amounted to £1.5 million, following his expenditure of £850,000 on purchasing the land.
This statement came from Kevin during his visit to the completed property. He expressed, "I'm somewhat overwhelmed by this—it's incredibly stunning."
The images of the property highlighted its opulent amenities.
This five-bedroom residence, designed with an open floor plan and encased in glass to flood the space with natural light, includes amenities such as a fitness center, spa facility, and a 15-meter-long swimming pool.
The property includes underfloor heating system across all areas; each bedroom comes with an ensuite bathroom, and four of them offer direct access to the swimming pool.
Throughout the years, the house has been leased for various purposes including filming a Peter Andre music video, unveiling Michelle Keegan’s Lipsy collection in 2016, and appearing in multiple ad campaigns.
Channel 4 will air Grand Designs again on Wednesday at 9 pm.
