Johnny Tillotson, a legendary figure in both country and pop music, passed away earlier this week.
He was 86.
On Wednesday, his spouse, Nancy Tillotson, disclosed the information. emotional post on Facebook.
“I am writing this with a heavy heart to inform you that the most gentle and compassionate person I have ever known, Johnny Tillotson, passed from Earth to Heaven yesterday," she penned. "He was not only my dearest love but also the guardian of my world and the knight of my soul. They say that occasionally within what seems like an everyday existence, one gets their own fairytale; the moment I encountered him marked when I found mine. He possessed a great sense of humor along with immense generosity and kindness. Truly, he embodied chivalry at every turn.”
He cherished his supporters and expressed gratitude towards them, just like he mentioned before; they turned every dream I've ever had into reality," she went on. "And once more, representing him, I extend my thanks for that.
Her message continued to state that Tillotson’s career "was distinguished by remarkable accomplishments in the realm of music."

The post went on to say, "As a teen idol in the swinging sixties, he won the affection of admirers around the world thanks to his iconic hit 'Poetry In Motion.'" It added, "'Poetry In Motion' along with several other tracks climbed to the peak positions on music charts everywhere. His talent for crafting melodies shone through in the enduring classic 'It Keeps Right On a Hurtin',' which became such an emotional touchstone that more than 112 performers covered it, including icons like Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Conway Twitty, and Bobby Darin."
Johnny's musical voyage involved recording countless albums, which sold tens of millions globally," it went on. "He received two Grammy nominations, underscoring his indisputable skill.
Nancy Tillotson also mentioned that she will miss Johnny "every single day for the rest of her life."
