Denver teenagers now have additional motivation to find summer employment due to the extension of the mayor's YouthWorks Initiative.
As part of the city’s initiative for being family-friendly, this program provides a $500 retention incentive to teenagers aged 14-21 who qualify after completing at least 100 hours of employment from April 1 through August 15.
The application process for the program has begun. Teenagers who have secured a summer position or received an employment offer when they apply can earn additional money as a bonus. Applications must be submitted by July 1st. Local authorities expect around 2,000 teenagers to take advantage of this opportunity, aiding their development through practical work experiences and providing supplementary earnings.

"This initiative is an integral part of our Family Friendly objective and underscores our dedication to supporting our youth, as they embody a more promising and resilient tomorrow for our city.
Adeeb Khan, who serves as the executive director of Denver Economic Development and Opportunity, stressed the significance of backing younger employees. He stated, "This initiative offers youths crucial practical work experience—ranging from enhancing resumes to excelling at job interviews and acquiring key professional abilities. The workforce development team in Denver is fully committed to guiding these individuals throughout their journey, and we're enthusiastic about contributing to kickstarting their careers this summer."
In an effort to link teenagers with employment options, the city will be organizing multiple job fairs, which include both physical attendance events and online ones.
Employers who recruit teenagers participating in this initiative might be eligible for a $1,000 bonus when they employ up to 10 young individuals, ensuring a supportive workplace with guidance and chances for enhancing skills.
