The news caused a significant downturn in U.S. stock markets, with the Dow Jones declining more than 1,500 points, equivalent to a drop of 3.7%; the S&P 500 decreasing by 4.3%; and the Nasdaq plunging by 5.6%.
Kasman cautioned that his team sees the "complete enforcement of stated policies as a significant macroeconomic disruption not presently factored into our predictions."
"We want to stress that if these policies continue, they could potentially drive the U.S. economy, and perhaps even the global economy, into a recession this year," cautioned Kasman.
