SAN ANTONIO ( WKRG — With less than 48 hours until the game starts in San Antonio, one of the key concerns for Auburn is the fitness level of their standout forward, Johni Broome.

Broome got hurt during the Tigers' Elite 8 victory on Sunday against Michigan State in Atlanta.

The Auburn Tigers have arrived in San Antonio in preparation for the Final Four.

On Thursday, Auburn conducted their initial practice session at the Alamodome.

Later, News 5Sports Director Simone Eli got the opportunity to interview Broome, bringing positive updates for the Tigers' supporters.

I'm feeling great and prepared to go," Broome stated. "Taking it one day at a time but looking forward to Saturday.

I put a lot of effort into training my elbow," Broome went on. "I took good care of it, though sometimes I pushed it too hard. It got somewhat irritated from the strain. However, by Saturday, I’ll be completely healed.

The Auburn head coach, Bruce Pearl, mentioned that Friday’s session marked Broome’s return to the court for the first time since Sunday’s match, allowing her to get back into motion.

Vic Moten of Daphne records his 1,000th career strikeout.

I'm pleased he feels that way," Pearl remarked. "It was his inaugural day of full participation in practice, so I was happy to witness his presence. Clearly, it was great to have him out there. One notable aspect Johni Broome demonstrated during the NCAA Tournament is that there’s an additional level—and even more gears—to what he can achieve. Everyone has been observing him and questioning when he might falter or disappear. Yet again, he managed to rise to the occasion.

Good tidings for Broome and Auburn as they gear up to face SEC rival Florida, whom they previously fell short against this season.
