The bill SB 614 was introduced by Senator Clarke Tucker, who characterized it as an update to Senate Bill 227.

When the Freedom of Information Act is breached, either the controlling entity must rectify the issue through a revote or they have to pay a penalty of $10,000.
"If they address the violation, then, hopefully, the harm is reduced, if not eliminated completely, as they will have engaged in a comprehensive public debate regarding the decision made by the governing body," Tucker stated during the meeting.
"I’m rolling my eyes over this major bond proposal. Yes, we’re ready to absorb a $10,000 loss. While I appreciate your attempt to include some sort of penalty, I am aware that many others are just looking out for their own interests,” stated Senator Alan Clark from District 7, who opposed the legislation.
