The People's Democratic Party, PDP, has pushed back its gubernatorial primary in Anambra State from April 5 to April 8.

The leader of the PDP in the state, Chidi Chidebe, verified the news to journalists in Awka on Saturday.

The primary will determine the party’s nominee for the gubernatorial race on November 8.

Chidebe stated that the National Secretariat endorsed the delay to finalize essential administrative procedures and guarantee a seamless operation.

He characterized PDP as the most tranquil party in Anambra, poised to compete together and get ready.

Our main election will now take place on Tuesday, April 8.

"Given the chaos in other parties, it's evident that PDP isn’t the issue," he stated.

Consequently, he urged members to prioritize public and party interests above their own personal aspirations.

According to DAILY POST, the main political parties in Anambra — APC, APGA, and Labour Party — will be conducting their primaries on Saturday.

In the meantime, numerous candidates have apparently pulled out of the competition in most parties, with the exception of APGA.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo continues as the lone candidate from the APGA party vying for the gubernatorial nomination.
