LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – According to Arkansas AAA, gasoline prices are rising slightly statewide; however, they still remain lower than the figures recorded at this time last year.
Currently, the average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline in Arkansas stands at $2.87, as reported by AAA data. This represents an increase from last week’s average of $2.84 yet remains lower than the $3.15 recorded this time last year and significantly under the peak high of $4.54 per gallon seen in June 2022.
Motorists in Pine Bluff and Hot Springs share the lowest fuel prices in central Arkansas, both paying $2.82 per gallon. Meanwhile, drivers in Little Rock face slightly higher costs but still stay under the statewide average of $2.86 per gallon.
In north-central Arkansas, Van Buren County boasts the lowest average gas price statewide at $2.76 per gallon. Conversely, the highest prices can be found in southeast Arkansas within Cleveland County, where gasoline costs $3.10 a gallon.
The countrywide average stands at $3.26 per gallon, with California leading at $4.92 per gallon.
Nick Chabarria from AAA stated that the current crude oil price of $71.71 per barrel is the factor controlling gasoline costs.
Moderate crude oil prices have assisted in keeping gasoline costs under control so far this year," he stated. "Typically, Arkansas motorists are now paying 28 cents less per gallon for regular unleaded fuel than they were at this point last year.
