SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) — Actor Lee Jung-jae and actor Jung Woo-sung reportedly had a meeting with prominent Chinese entertainment personalities like renowned actress Zhou Dongyu, according to their agency on Friday.
As reported by the Seoul-based Artist Company, both celebrities paid a visit to Beijing. There, they conducted meetings with delegates from six to seven entertainment firms, among them an entity associated with the Alibaba Group.
The talks centered around the overall condition of the entertainment sectors in South Korea and China, and were not meant to delve into any particular business ventures, according to the agency.
The 'Squid Game' actors Lee and Jung, who starred in the political movie '12:12: The Day,' were spotted having a roughly two-hour meet-up with Zhou Dongyu, known for her role in 'Better Days.' According to Artist Company, this gathering was informal and did not have an official purpose.
Nevertheless, this assembly of prominent individuals has fueled rumors about a possible partnership, coming as it does during China’s recent focus on boosting cultural interactions between these nations.
Lee took his first step into directing with "Hunt" in 2022, whereas Zhou is apparently looking to broaden her professional horizons on an international scale.
Zhou is already well-known to Korean viewers for serving as a jury member at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) last year. According to BIFF, she made history by becoming the youngest actress to receive the Best Actress award at all three principal Chinese film festivals for her roles in "Soul Mate" (2016) and "Better Days" (2019).
