25th Radio Regenbogen Awards: Wolfgang Niedecken Receives Lifetime Achievement Honor

The Radio Regenbogen Award marked its 25th year of celebration. On April 4, approximately 1,200 attendees from Germany’s and the global entertainment sector convened at the Europa-Park Arena.

"Synonym for Cologne Rock"

The BAP creator Wolfgang Niedecken (74) was presented with the lifetime achievement award that night. According to a press statement, he is considered "a symbol of Cologne rock, evocative songwriting, and unwavering dedication" within Germany. Beyond merely being about music, he embodies several roles such as a chronicler, an artist deeply involved in social issues, political activism, and someone who constantly challenges the current state of affairs," stated during the ceremony honoring him. The accolade was bestowed upon him by his close associate Hannes Ringlstetter.

Award Winners Receive Their Prizes in Person

At the Radio Regenbogen Awards, it has always been customary for all recipients to collect their accolades in person. The following celebrities expressed great pleasure upon receiving recognition: Mark Ambor was honored as International Newcomer, FAST BOY received the National Newcomer title, Milow won with his song "The Voice," and Sophie and the Giants took home honors for International Pop. Florian Schroeder claimed top spot in Comedy, ISAAK earned acclaim within National Pop, and Nico Santos was acknowledged among National Artists. Additionally, Michael "Bully" Herbig stood out in Media Man category, Barbara Schöneberger excelled in Media Woman, and Cyril triumphed in Song of the Year.

Previous Prize Recipients Send Video Messages

Comedian Mirja Boes (53) led the ceremony, kicking off with an unexpected touch as past honorees—ranging from the Pet Shop Boys to Peter Maffay—sent their congratulations through pre-recorded videos.
